Day 1: Fez – Ifrane – Azrou – Middle Atlas – Toudra Gorges


In the morning we will pick you up at your hotel or riad, and depart Fez. We’ll pass through Ifrane, the “Switzerland of Morocco” and then arrive at the national parks and cedar forests of Azrou, where the wild Barbary monkeys live. Here we can take advantage of the Moroccan wilderness for spectacular photos, and then have lunch further along the trek. Afterwards, we continue through the Atlas Mountains, enjoying the landscapes and eventually arriving in the small town of Er-Rich. From here, we will continue through the mountains and pass through the famous town of Imilchil before arriving to Toudra Gorges where we’ll spend the night in a hotel.

Day 2: Toudra Gorges – Erfoud – Erg Chebbi – Merzouga

After breakfast, we leave behind the Toudra gorges as we descend southwards towards the desert of Merzouga, the Erg Chebbi dunes. We’ll pass through Berber villages and towns like Tinjdad, Jorf and Erfoud, where we can observe the beginnings of the Tafilalet oasis. We’ll have lunch in along the way, and then continue to Merzouga, where we’ll leave our baggage at the hotel and ride our camels into the dunes of Erg Chebbi, which are considered highest in North Africa. We’ll spend the night in a Desert Camp, where the evening promises dinner, camp fire, and overnight stay in the traditional and comfortable nomad tents of the Berbers.

3: Merzouga – Desert Tour – Rissani – Erg Chebbi Merzouga

After breakfast, you will go all the way round the dunes in a 4WD vehicle, visiting the oasis of Merzouga, the nomadic depository,Not far away there’s the lake of Merzouga, with its bird populations. After experiencing this stunning landscape you’ll leave for Rissani. Once called Sijilmassa, this was the meeting place for the salt caravans, coming from Timbuktu in Mali. Here you’ll walk through the souk, full of vendors selling spices, vegetables and clothes as well as Berber antiques and unique treasures. After a lunch of Medfouna, a local delicacy nicknamed “Berber pizza” by the inhabitants, you will travel back to your hotel where we’ll spend a relaxing night in the hotel.

Day 4: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Middle Atlas – Boulmane – Fes

After breakfast we’ll start the trip back to Fez. This road takes us through the Ziz Valley, famous for the dates in Morocco, to the town of Errachidia. From here we traverse again the Middle Atlas, enjoying the scenery along the way. The road splits and we pass through the moutain town of Boulmane to finally arrive to Fez. Our guide will make sure you reach your chosen Riad or Hotel
